Muslim practice is based upon obeying whatever Allah commands and refraining from whatever He forbids, regardless of the reason. A Muslim cannot reject any Shariah ruling or hesitate to follow it if the reason for it is unclear.
No matter what the reason may be, we must accept halal
and haram rulings when they are proven in the Quran and the sayings of the Prophet
(peace be upon him).
“It is not fitting for a Believer, man or woman, when a
matter has been decided by Allah and His Messenger to have any option about
their decision: if any one disobeys Allah and His Messenger, he is indeed on a
clearly wrong Path.” (Surah Al-Ahzab, 33 Verse 36)
Why Pork or Pig is Haram in
Islam?
It has been categorized as a prohibited food in Islam according to the text of the Quran, where Allah says (interpretation of the meaning):
“He has only forbidden you what dies of itself, and blood,
and flesh of swine, and that over which any other (name) than (that of) Allah
has been invoked; but whoever is driven to necessity, not desiring, nor
exceeding the limit, no sin shall be upon him; surely Allah is Forgiving,
Merciful.” (Surah Al-Baqara, 2 Verse 173)
Muslims are forbidden from eating pork under any
circumstances except those where they are in dire need and their lives depend
on it, such as when they are starving, and no other kind of food is available
to them. The Sharia principle states that one cannot find any other food if one
fears he is going to die.
Scientific Proofs that Make Pork or Pig Haram
Researchers have also proved that pigs, among other
animals, are known to transmit germs that are harmful to humans.
In
addition to diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and various types of cancers, eating pork is associated with an increased risk of many chronic
conditions, including diabetes and cardiovascular disease.
These and other harmful effects suggest that Allah (SWT)
has forbidden pork for a very specific reason, which is to preserve the health
and life of the people, which are protected by Islamic law, and thus it has
been prohibited.
