Friday is a special day in Islam; a whole Surah of the Qur’an is named after it. A Muslim who knows the purpose of Jumuah would never miss the prayer.
Below are 13 reasons why you should never miss Jumu'ah prayer.
Allaah the Most High Says:
"O ye who believe! When the call is proclaimed to prayer on Friday (the Day of Assembly) hasten earnestly to the Remembrance of Allaah and leave off business (and traffic): that is best for you if ye but knew!
(Qur'an Surah Jumu'ah: 9)
"And when the Prayer is finished then may ye disperse through the land and seek of the Bounty of Allaah: and celebrate the Praises of Allaah often (and without stint): that ye may prosper."
(Qur'an Surah Jumu'ah: 10)
But when they see some bargain or some amusement they disperse headlong to it and leave thee standing. Say: "The (blessing) from the Presence of Allaah is better than any amusement or bargain! And Allaah is the Best to provide (for all needs)."
(Qur'an Surah Jumu'ah : 11)
1. Expiation From The Sins
Narrated by Abu Hurairah (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Five (daily) prayers and from one Friday prayer to the (next) Friday prayer, and from Ramadhan to Ramadhan are expiation for the (sins) committed in between (their intervals) provided one shuns the major sins.
(Sahih Muslim)
2. Taking Ghusl bath on Friday
It is Sunnah to perform ghusl janaba every Friday before going to for Jumu'ah prayer as well as brushing the teeth (most preferably the siwak) and use perfume of good saints. Narrated by Abu Said (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "The taking of a bath on Friday is compulsory for every male Muslim who has attained the age of puberty and (also) the cleaning of his teeth with Siwak, and the using of perfume if it is available."
(Sahih Bukhari)
3. Going To Mosque As early as possible
Narrated by Abu Hurairah (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings be upon him said, "When it is a Friday, the angels stand at the gate of the mosque and keep on writing the names of the persons coming to the mosque in succession according to their arrivals. The example of the one who enters the mosque in the earliest hour is that of one offering a camel (in sacrifice). The one coming next is like one offering a cow and then a ram and then a chicken and then an egg respectively. When the Imam comes out (for Jumu'ah prayer) they (i.e. angels) fold their papers and listen to the Khutba."
(Sahih Bukhari)
