Walking to perform salat comes with a lot of benefits, and for
any Muslims who want to obtain a gigantic reward of this world and the afterlife
should emulate the habit of walking to the mosque to pray. Below are reasons
why you should walk to the Mosque rather than praying at home.
1. Raises Status One Degree There by Taking Away One Sin.
Narrated by Abu Hurairah (may Allaah be pleased with him)
that: "The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
'When one of you performs ablution and does it well, then he comes to the
mosque with no other motive but prayer and not seeking anything other than the
prayer, he does not take one step but Allaah raises him in status one degree
thereby, and takes away one of his sins, until he enters the mosque. When he
enters the mosque he is in a state of prayer so long as he is waiting for the
prayer.'"
[Sunan Ibn Majah]
2. Fully Light On The Day Of Resurrection
Narrated by Burdah Al-Aslami (may Allaah be pleased with
him) That the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “Give
glad tidings to those who walk to the mosque in darkness, for it will become
fully light on the Day of Resurrection.”
[Sunan At-Tirmidhi]
3. Wipe Out The Sins And Elevates Ranks In Paradise.
Narrated by Abu Hurairah (May Allaah be pleased with him)
that The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings be upon him) said,
"Shall I not tell you something by which Allaah effaces the sins and
elevates ranks in paradise (Jannah)?" The Companions said; "Certainly,
O Messenger of Allaah." He (Prophet) said, "Performing the ablution
(Wudhu) thoroughly in spite of difficult circumstances, walking with more paces
to the mosque, and waiting for the next As- Salat (the prayer) after observing
Salat; and that is Ar-Ribat, and that is Ar-Ribat."
[Sahih Muslim]
4. Honourable Paradise Prepared For Those Who Goes To The Mosque Every Morning And Afternoon.
Narrated by Abu Hurairah (may Allaah be pleased with him)
that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings be upon him) said,
"Allaah will prepare for him who goes to the mosque (every) morning and in
the afternoon (for the congregational prayer) an honorable place in Paradise
with good hospitality for (what he has done) every morning and afternoon
goings.
[Sahih Bukhari]
5. Tremendous Reward For The Prayer Of Those Who Are Farthest Away From The Mosque.
Narrated by Abu Musa (may Allaah be pleased with
him):that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings be upon him) said,
"The people who get tremendous reward for the prayer are those who are
farthest away (from the mosque) and then those who are next farthest and so on.
Similarly one who waits to pray with the Imam has greater reward than one who
prays and goes to bed. "
[Sahih Bukhari]
6. One step will wipe out sin, the other step will elevate in paradise.
Narrated by Abu Hurairah (may Allaah be pleased with him)
that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “He who
purifies himself (performs ablution Wudhu) in his house and then walks to one of
the houses of Allaah (Masjid) for performing an obligatory Solaat, one step of
his will wipe out his sins and another step will elevate his rank (in Jannah).”
[Sahih Muslim]
7. Those Who Are Expected To Be On True Guidance
Narrated by Abu Sa`id Al-Khudri (may Allaah be pleased
with him) that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings be upon him) said,
“When you see a man frequenting the mosque constantly, testify that he is a
believer because Allaah says: the mosques of Allaah are visited only by those
who believe in Allaah and the Last Day, perform prayer, .give zakkat and fear
none but Allaah, it is they who are expected to be on true guidance”’
[At-Tirmidhi]
