Islam is the most popular religion in Nigeria. Nigeria has the largest Muslim population in West Africa. There are over 50% Muslims of the total Nigeria population which are mainly from the Northern part of the country.

5. Sheikh Buhari Musa

 

Sheikh Buhari Omo Musa is also known as ‘Ajikobi 1, he’s one of the most popular Islamic scholar from the region of South West.

Sheikh Buhari became popular because of the way he preaches using trending situation and sarcastic approach during his preaching,

He is very known among the youth in kwara and some Yoruba States in Nigeria. He obtained his primary levels and secondary levels in Ilorin, Kwara State.

 

4. Sani Yahaya Jingir

 


Sani Yahaya Jingir is an Islamic cleric scholar, living in Plateau State, He is the National Chairman Council of Ulama, Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’ah Wa’Ikamatis Sunnah JIBWIS under Jos. On May 25, 2015 he was elected chairman of the council when a decision is made after a council meeting in Jos, made by the Ulama’u's elders Council, while Sheikh Alhassan Saed Adam to be the second chairman, the election was made when the council lost its chairman Sheikh Zakariyya Balarabe Dawud.

 

Jingir performs annual Ramadan tafseer in Jos, He is one of the most prominent scholars in Northern Nigeria. Jingir preaches teachings on the importance and benefits of imparting education among children of both genders,

Jingir makes hard preach on Boko haram by disbelieving that their act of Jihad is not according to the Islamic Shari'ah,

 

3. Muhammad Kabiru Haruna


 

Muhammad Kabiru Haruna popularly known as Kabiru Gombe is a Nigerian Islamic scholar, cleric, mufassir, and preacher. He is the present national Secretary General of the Jama'atu Izalatul Bidi'ah wa Ikamatus Sunnah, the largest Salafi movement in Nigeria, since December 2011.

 

Kabiru Gombe started as a youth member of the religious aid group of JIBWIS who were called Yan Agaji in Hausa, he then later went to Saudi Arabia to further his religious knowledge and study Qur'an science. Gombe is the present Secretary General of the Nigerian Izala Society since December 2011.

 

 

2. Ahmad Abubakar Gumi


 

Ahmad Abubakar Gumi is an Islamic cleric, scholar and former military officer with the rank of captain in the Nigeria Defence Academy (NDA), he is the current Mufti and mufassir at the Kaduna central mosque Sultan Bello.

He is the eldest son to late Shaykh Abubakar Gumi, he was born in Kaduna state.

Ahmad Gumi attended Sardauna Memorial College (SMC) for his senior secondary education, then he was admitted into the Ahmadu Bello University to study medicine, after his graduation he was enlisted into the Nigeria Defence Academy. Gumi resigned from military service at the rank of Captain and moved to Saudi Arabia to further his Islamic education at the Umm al-Qura University where he studied Islamic Jurisprudence and Tafsir

 

1. Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar


 

Muhammadu Sa'ad Abubakar , CFR(born August 24 1956) is the 20th Sultan of Sokoto. As Sultan of Sokoto, he is considered the spiritual leader of Nigeria's one hundred million Muslims, roughly fifty percent of the nation's population.

 

Abubakar is the fifth heir to the two century-old throne founded by his ancestor, Sheikh Usman Dan Fodio (1754–1817) leader of the Maliki school of Islam and the Qadiri branch of Sufism.

 

As the Sultan of Sokoto, Abubakar is the leader of the Qadiriyya sufi order, which is the most important Muslim position in Nigeria and senior to the Emir of Kano, the leader of the most populous Tijaniyya sufi order. He is also the head of Jama'atu Nasril Islam (Society for the Support of Islam – JNI)
