The area or spot which is used for the
purpose of worship and prayer is called a masjid
meaning Mosque). It was reported in a popular Hadith that the prophet Muhammad
(pbuh) tells us that “the earth has been made for the Muslims, a masjid (Pure and clean)."
This implies that anywhere a Muslim might
be he can observe his prayer but the reward of performing salah in the mosque
is bigger than that performed in an ordinary place.
The following discusses 5 places not to
perform salah and also should be considered when picking a place for prayer.
1. The
place should be clean and pure
A place for salah should be clean and
pure. It should be free of dirty, filthy and impure materials. Places such as
slaughterhouses, bathrooms, is also forbidden.
2. Place
that Pose Danger/Hazard
A place for salah should be free from hazards
or danger. The danger could be due to someone or something that may disturb the
worshipper.
